Right about now would be the perfect time to deploy a Halo Reach article in order to profit from the large amounts of traffic being gathered by such information. That doesn’t sound like the kind of thing I would do though, so screw you Internet – instead I shall write about something else.
Luckily I have been clearing out my backlog over the past few weeks which means Halo isn’t the only thing on my mind, playing Resident Evil 5 on the personal computer is a perfect example of this, and one which I am fairly sure I wrote about, but now can’t find the article. I have also been partaking in a little thing I like to call my S&M sessions.
For the uninitiated S&M can often involve complex tasks which must be performed, and should you fail could inflict severe punishments. And um, well, I was going to let that S&M joke play out for a little longer but I can’t think of any more comparisons to make. Anyway, the S&M sessions to which I actually refer are the various Sam & Max episodes Telltale release over the course of five months. Unfortunately for me I purchased the whole is Season 3 without playing beyond the first episode, making me substantially behind on my Sam & Max lore… UNTIL NOW.
Well, I’m still behind, but I’ve now completed Episode 2, which makes me slightly less behind. Being a mid-season episode to a series of adventure games – and the fact that it is an adventure game – there isn’t much to discuss beyond the story and the complexity of the puzzles. I could tell you how difficult the puzzles are, but then you’d consider yourself a god for completing them quickly, or an idiot for taking so long to finish the episode. Either way I believe you need to stay as grounded as possible, and as such you deserve to receive neither of those fates.
So what else is there to say about Sam & Max? I can tell you they’re a canine and rabbity thing partnership originally brought to video game form by LucasArts from their original comic-book dwellings, so that’s something. The dog is also friends with the rabbit, which may or may not be common place within the animal world, I have no idea. The only time I have seen a dog and rabbity thing in the same location is at a greyhound race, which normally involves the dogs attempting to catch the fictitious rabbit. They don’t seem very friendly. But I’m normally distracted by the odd people around me at such events, so I have never fully observed the interaction between the two species.
Nevertheless, this canine and rabbit partnership managed to overcome any preconceptions to acquire a fondness for each other beyond that of a dog wanting to eat his rabbit-like friend. Enough about their friendship though, there is far more intriguing things afoot in the world of Sam & Max, such as the fact that the dog is wearing a suit and hat. This is interesting because not only is the dog wearing a suit, but he has also decided that despite needing a suit and fancy hat combination, shoes are pointless.
How did this decision come about? I would fully expect a dog with a desire to wear a full suit and hat combination would go out of his way to acquire some shoes, unfortunately it would appear that Sam himself does not agree with my line of thinking.
This leads me to another point to ponder though, Sam is a fully clothed dog roaming the world, which would make Max a naked rabbit. How does this work in the world of Sam & Max? Is Sam considered the oddity amongst the game’s cast for wearing clothes, or Max for roaming the world completely naked? So many questions, so few people to care. I need answers!
